The original gingerbread castle, towards the end of Gingerbread Castle Road, outside the town of Hamburg, New Jersey (USA), was built to advertise a biscuit (not cookies) factory. It was painted to look like sugar icing. Visiting children were warned not to touch the paintwork, for if they did, it would turn to stone. The whole area became an amusement park; with model train and even a family restaurant. The castle has been in decline since the 1980s and is in a poor state of repair. Here, JMJ has created a faithful restoration of the castle. Once adorned with various animals, can you spot them in the painting? An owl, a penguin, a cat, a performing seal and nine elephants. On 24/7/2022, JMJ refreshed the stained glass windows of the right-hand tower, added new gold paint to seal's ball and added gold accent dots to the roof of the central tower. The sky and other areas also received a refresh. Note: none of the refreshed areas can be seen in this, the original version.
